Today, I present you this super easy dough recipe for whole wheat empanadas! In just a few minutes, you make some delicious empanadas. This time I made some spinach baskets, but you can choose what to fill with. In my opinion, I think whole wheat dough goes perfectly with any vegetable.
This empanada dough can be made with beef tallow, sunflower oil, olive oil, butter, etc. The type of fat you choose. I used refined bovine fat (beef tallow) this time, and was great. They were not dried in the oven at all. Although you don’t have to brown too much because that will also give it a crunchy touch.
A nice idea is to prepare a good amount and freeze by inserting the discs with plastic food separators, so they don’t stick together. So, when you want or need to make empanadas, you have them available at hand.
The amounts of ingredients in this recipe were just enough to make two dozen empanadas (this time I wanted to make open empanadas).
