Chickpea Hummus Easy, Simple and Quick Recipe!

Currently, hummus bi tahina (chickpea hummus) or simply hummus, has become a classic. That is why today I will tell you how to prepare it in an easy and fast way. Enjoy a chickpea cream with a lot of flavor and a touch of freshness. Ideal for appetizers and snacks, salads, vegetables and much more!

Let’s talk about the recipe:

Preparing homemade hummus is simple, since it does not have complications in terms of its preparation. The ingredients used are just a few and often used, easy to find in any market. In addition, you can make modifications to the recipe according to preference or need with not inconvenience.

Although it is a quick recipe to make, you will need at least one kitchen element: blender, food processor or hand blender. In this way, the chickpeas are completely crushed, and a homogeneous cream is obtained as a result. Keep in mind that in order not to clog the machine, it is necessary to stir and add olive oil or water

There is a particular hummus consistency, which can be more or less dense. In addition, there are those who prefer hummus with a good presence of olive oil or a little more acid. And others in which a particular seasoning stands out. For this reason, the quantity of the ingredients will be graduated in a personalized way and according to the particular taste.

About the ingredients:

The main ingredient is chickpeas, and you can use any type, regardless of their variety, whether they are dried or canned soaked. However, there is a great advantage in using canned chickpeas, and that is that preparation is speeded up by saving us the time of prior hydration and subsequent cooking of the chickpeas.

In the same way, using dried chickpeas also has its advantage, and that is that all its properties are used intact. Also, you get a helpful amount of aquafaba. Chickpea hydration takes a minimum of 4 hours, ideally 8 and a maximum of 12 without losing properties. After hydration, they are cooked by boiling for approximately 1-2 hours.

Other notable ingredients of hummus, although not necessary, is Tahini or sesame paste. Which is bought already made, or you can prepare homemade with toasted sesame seeds and olive oil. Another way of providing this flavor could be by directly adding the sesame seeds with the other ingredients in the blender cup.

As a last mention are the condiments, whether fresh or dehydrated. The classics, for example, salt, cumin, paprika and garlic. This time I have added lemon zest and a touch of fresh mint, that has been more than good. It can also be parsley, coriander or another species of choice, either for surface use or together in the preparation.
